Storytelling as agents of evangalisation

Storytelling as agents of evangelisation

By Austin Madinga

Since 1999 I have worked on web and content creation projects for various arms of the Catholic Church. These include Radio Maria Malawi, the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, Luntha Television, the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, the Diocese of Dedza and the Diocese of Mangochi. I have worked on web development, hosting and content management projects. This included training web managers on content management.

I have helped communication staff improve their digital and content management skills. Recently I conducted training for pastoral secretaries, communication secretaries and priests whose work is directly linked to communications. I also work with Carmelite Sisters in Malawi on their communication efforts.

The training sessions centred on online tools and techniques that the participants can use for purposes of evangelisation, sales and vocational recruitment. Many Catholic dioceses and congregations have income-generating projects or educational facilities that have online platforms. However, most of these platforms are rarely updated, not optimised for search, and fail to attract and convert visitors.

I also sit on the editorial team of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe’s Mpingo Ndife Tonse magazine where I am the editorial designer.
